Raj Parikh

Raj is a co-director at Uni-Design. A graduate of Carnegie Mellon University, he majored as a Bachelor of Science in Business administration, with a double-major in Economics. Raj has several years of experience in manufacturing, marketing, and sales of fine jewellery. Raj joined Uni-Design, a family business, over 15 years ago and believes in values like trust, respect, and the pursuit of excellence – the driving force behind our company. In his free time, Raj prefers reading and trekking, to center and balance himself.

Alap Parikh

Aalap Parikh

I meet each day with a positive mindset and a ‘can do’ attitude.

Aalap is a co-director at Uni-Design. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and Management from New York University. Before joining Uni-Design, he established and operated his own diamond manufacturing unit in Surat, for 3 years. As a leader at Uni-Design, he values and pushes for humility, team work, and passion. Aalap approaches the daily grind with a solution-oriented attitude, due to his love for the diamond and jewellery industry. Apart from jewellery, Aalap is also passionate about varied forms of art and design. He enjoys travel, reading, and football.

Our parent company, Mahendra Brother’s, was first established in 1960, as a manufacturing unit and marketeer of polished diamonds.

A First - Sight Holders
Of The DTC

As manufacturing sight-holders of the Diamond Trading Company (DTC), in 1969, we became one of the first sight-holders in the country. Over the years, our company has moved from strength to strength. We trade, exclusively, in natural diamonds, forged in the earth’s mantle. For about 60 years, Mahendra Brothers has continued to be a one-stop-destination for diamonds. We offer a wide array of options, ranging from round, princess, marquise, tapered, and baguettes - in all qualities from 300 per carat to 2 carats in VVS, and I3 clarities.

Our First
Manufacturing Unit

In 1991, we established our first manufacturing unit in Navsari, Gujarat. What started out as a diamond manufacturing unit, today, also consists of a large jewellery manufacturing operation.

Established Uni-Design

In 1995, we started our first jewellery unit under the brand Uni-Design – the identity we are known by internationally, today. We started this operation on one floor, with 25 employees. Currently, our operation expands over 3 storeys, with 2,000 employees.

Global Expansion

(2000) Over the last two decades, Uni-Design’s global expansion has accelerated, with offices in Australia, Hong Kong, USA, China, India, France, and Belgium.

The Sautoir At The Oscars

In 2008, we produced and manufactured the famed sautoir necklace, designed by the esteemed jewellery designer, L’Wren Scott. A-list star, Nicole Kidman, wore the necklace, paired with a black Balenciaga gown, to the Oscar’s that year. The sautoir consisted of a total of 1399 carats in diamonds.

The Bunder Diamond Collection

In 2012, Rio Tinto commissioned Madhya Pradesh-based designer, Reena Ahluwalia, to design a collection that pays homage to the coveted Bunder diamonds. Our firm manufactured this iconic collection, commemorating the spirit of India.

The Record-Breaking, Diamond-Studded Boots

In 2014, we collaborated with diamond house, Diarough, and the fashion house of A.F Vandervorst to create $3.2 million diamond-studded boots, in record time. The boots consist of white, champagne, grey, and pink diamonds, put together in the most intricate of paisley patterns, bringing the total number of carats to 1,527.

The Parikh Foundation, established by our parent company – The Mahendra Brother’s, was formed in 1985 to strategise and build upon the 4 pillars of our social responsibility structure: education, animal rights, relief & rehabilitation, and health care.

The Parikh foundation has built charitable hospitals and tended to several health care needs across the country. “BA,” established in 2011, through the Parikh Foundation, is a one-of-a-kind radio therapy and cancer care Center in Navsari, Gujarat.

Health Care

Established in 1994, through the Parikh Foundation, Mahavir Vishwa Kalyan Trust is a Shelter Home spread over 696960 sq. ft. for Deserted Animals and Sick Birds near Navsari, Gujarat and houses over 1000 Big & Small animals. The shelter regularly invites school children to inculcate the habit of animal care and for environmental studies.

AnimalCare

The Parikh foundation has been doing extensive work in the field of education. It has helped create, directly or indirectly, institutes in technical, non- technical, management and vocational fields in Gujarat.

Parikh foundation worked with GJEPC to set up Indian Institute of Gems & Jewellery (IIGJ), also known as Bagmal Laxmichand Parikh Campus in Mumbai, with an objective to have skilled workforce for the gems & jewellery industry

Education

We are on the forefront of rehabilitation of people across the country, affected by natural calamities and disasters. Our foundation assists with providing relief through infrastructure and rebuilding roads, schools, homes, and other facilities.
